Hello everyone! My name is Sherry Gaiser and I am a sophomore. I am a Nutrition major, but I am currently looking into adding Exercise Sport’s Studies as a second major. I’m from Michigan near Grand Rapids, which comes to be about a 4 hour drive from my house to Benedictine. I personally found this to be the perfect distance from home. I knew when trying to find a college I wanted to be far, but not far enough that it’s difficult getting home for the 2 major breaks-winter break and spring break. Plus, if there is ever an emergency, a 4 hour travel distance can be accomplished via riding the train or etc.
Apart from distance however, I was especially drawn to Benedictine because of its diversity and the hospitality I received from faculty/staff during my visits. The aspect of my college life I’ve truly enjoyed so far has been my involvement in Cross Country and Track & Field. Running is something that I am very passionate about and something I knew I wanted to continue doing after high school, so I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to run here at Benedictine (something that would not have been likely at a larger school). It is awesome to a part of such a tight-knit, devoted team that literally feels like a second family. I know had it not been for my participation in XC and Track, or for the small community here at Benedictine, I would not have made friends as easily as I’ve been able to. If you have any questions regarding Cross Country, Track, my major, my experience being out of state, or just anything in general, please feel free to ask!
