Ideas for Christmas Shopping

Even though Christmas may seem far away, its actually right around the corner! Like lots of other people I tend to push off shopping until last minute, whereas this year I made a goal that I would finish of Christmas shopping by the first week of December (may not happen but its a nice goal).  The hardest part of Christmas shopping is the fact that you have no idea what to get for others, going asking around for ideas; at the same time you want to keep the presents as much affordable as possible (We are college students….). Here are some Inexpensive Christmas Gifts:

  • Charming Bracelets
  • Pajama set
  • Watches
  • Make a frame with different pictures
  • Scarf sets
  • Clothes!
  • Tickets to a concert
  • Charms for Pandora bracelets
  • Kitchen appliances
  • New Music CD
  • Beauty supplies
  • Cologne for men
  • Go to a restaurant with your significant other
  • Go on a skiing trip with friends
  • Buy a book series
  • Go on a get away vacation

There are many other Christmas shopping ideas, which also depend on the person that you are buying it for.  The most important tip for shopping is to KEEP CALM! and do not stress over shopping and keep the presents affordable!

Basketball Season Begins!

Finally at last! Basketball season is right around the corner! After last season many things changed and players shift from one team to another. Some become free agents and others start to play for teams that no one expected to see. The biggest unexpected move was when Lebron James decided to end his contract with Miami Heat and start playing again for his home town Cavaliers.  With that change, Chicago Bulls also gained an advantage player, Pau Gasol. With his addition in the team every Chicago Bull fan (including myself) could not wait to see the duo of Gasol and Noah.  When the pre-season started the anticipation of seeing these two great players together was over and something greater had started.  The greatest game was Cavaliers vs. Bulls where we saw Derrick Rose scored 20 points in 13 minutes, making every Chicago Bull fan proud of his comeback in the game. Another big change was Deng getting traded into Miami Heat. This change was unexpected from many fans due to the fact that Chicago and Miami players always had some feud going on between each other.  This season kicks off with San Antonio hosting Dallas. At the same time time our first game in Chicago is against the Cavaliers and Lebron James. With this match we are extra pumped to see what this season has to bring with many changes in the process. Personally I do not believe that Chicago is capable of winning it all but I believe that we can make it farther in the season then we have in the past years. Let’s Go Bulls! #Bullsnation!

S.E.E.D’s Introduces PGC

As you may have seen in the hallways, green posters and many free organic samples been given out.  This is because is introducing first time ever the; Project Green Challenge in Benedictine University! This great challenge is to educate students more about the products that we use each day, becoming more organic, and winning prices along the process. To begin is really simple! You sign up for the October challenge and what this means is that each day for that month you will receive an email describing a challenge that you have to complete. The best part is that challenges do not make you go out of your way in order to complete them. Once the challenge is completed, take a picture, tag PGC, post it and you have completed your first challenge! The best part of this challenge is that the more you accomplish, you have the higher chance to win more prices, from organic shampoos, facials, snacks GMO free!, and best part, you have the chance to win money prices, such as scholarships and gift cards!

The point of introducing this challenge to the students is to become more aware of our everyday actions and how they impact not only the environment but also our personal health. Learning that the food that we eat each day have GMO, even the clothes that we wear have an impact towards our skin. We are not promoting the products but rather promoting the challenge in a way that can benefit health. Through out the process, Teen Going Green leaders provides information before asking you to complete the challenge, that way you have a better understanding of why and what you are doing. Please take this opportunity to benefit us in the long run. We all understands, we are students and sometimes we do not find the time to complete everything that we need to do in one day, but with this challenge you do not have to complete each and every one of them. It is important to educate yourself in this important topic! One little action from everyone will eventually lead up to a great change in the world.

As October just around the corner, fall season is approaching as well.  Many people begin to feel sad as the summer season is officially over, but many more are ready for sweatpants and sweatshirts.  October is an exciting month with Halloween approaching and the weather officially shifting into cooler days.  As the weather changes there are many things that students can do in order to enjoy Chicago’s bipolar weather changes;

  • Paint your nails with fall season colors
  • Carve a Pumpkin
  • Go with friend to a farm
  • Have a fall scavenger hunt with family/friends
  • Clean up the leaves
  • Celebrate Thanksgiving
  • Go Pumpkin picking
  • Go on a hayride
  • Read a mystery book
  • Organize a yard sale
  • Create your Christmas shopping list
  • Drink eggnog
  • Attend a hunted house with friends
