Unfortunately, 768 million people do not have access to safe, clean drinking water. Which is why on Saturday, September 21st from 1:00 to 5:00 PM Benedictine hosted our second annual Water Walk in the Quad. Our Water Walk is a challenging relay race with the purpose being to raise awareness of the struggles children have to go through every single day to obtain resources. There were teams of five people, $30 per team, and all of the proceeds went to support UNICEF’s efforts to provide clean water and adequate sanitation to children around the world.
This years water walk was a huge success and turn out! There was music playing, raffles, and games that made the day fun. This event gives you an idea of how people struggle just to get their basic everyday resources. We take things for granted sometimes, so it was a great and fun opportunity to see what it is like from their point of view. We were having fun while helping children get access to clean water. This year we made $1,084.62! That is enough for 119 kids to have clean water for a whole year!
