So I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but country has really been on the up and up lately. Lots of new, younger, artists have hit the scene and it’s really pulling in a fresh crowd. I personally have been a country music fan since I was little, always listening to it with my mom, but with songs like Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise”, country has gained some much-needed followers lately. Here at Benedictine we try to make sure we’re keeping up with the trends and always trying new things.
That’s why today I wanted to share with you all about a program that I’m super excited for: Barnyard Bash!!! Hosted by Programming Board, this event is something we’re trying for the first time. The whole thing is country themed (think Country Thunder or the County Fair) and better yet it’s free to attend! September 28th, 2013 (it’s a Saturday!) Benedictine will be hosting a country cover band, Back Roads Country Band, having a beer garden open to everyone with wrist bands for those 21 and over, a root beer keg for those who aren’t, and give-aways such as bandannas, cowboy hats, and 12 oz glasses in the shape of a boot!
Besides the free stuff we’ll also have free food! Just classics you might find at the fair like ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, sweet corn, gourmet popcorn, sweet iced tea, and more! While you listen to music you can enjoy games like bobbing for apples, a lasso competition, bags/horseshoes, and there is even talk of bringing back the mechanical bull from the Welcome Back Bash!
So get your daisy dukes out, your plaid shirts pressed, and your cowboy boots polished and mark it on your calendar! Come out and join us Sept. 28th at 7:30 to relax and let your troubles drift away as your spend a night in the country!!
