How the meal plans work

Benedictine University has a lot of benefits especially when living on and off campus. One of the things that is beneficial is the meal plan. The meal plan has a lot to offer. The meal plan consists of six meal plans that both residents and commuters  can choose from. Each plan has either munch money or meal points. Other plans consist of both meal points and munch money.

Munch money is used only at Coal Ben (Benedictine University’s very own restaurant)  and the coffee shop located in Kindlon Hall.

Meal points is used  for the Krasa Dining Room.

Krasa Dining room (Cafeteria)

Krasa Dining room serves a variety of foods buffet style! You can eat as much as you want!

Coal Ben

Coal Ben is our own restaurant that serves food like burgers, pizza, salads and much more!

Residents

The Red Plan Block- Residents are able to have 160 meal points for the main dining room in Krasa and use $150 munch money for Coal Ben and the coffee shop.

The White Plan Block-Residents are able to have 140 meal points for the main dining room in Krasa and use $200 munch money for Coal Ben and the coffee shop.

Commuters

The Convenience Plan-Commuters are able to have 50 meal points and $50 munch money

The Eagle plan-Commuters are able to have 80 meal points and  $100 munch money

The Flex Plan-Commuters are able to have 20 meal points

Everyone

Every undergraduate student gets $25 munch money at the beginning of every semester.

What if you don’t have enough munch money?

You can still eat at Coal Ben even if you don’t have any munch money left. After 6:30 P.M. Coal Ben accepts meal points as long as you don’t go above $6.00 when spending. If you do go over $6.00 at Coal Ben you are  able to use your meal points at $6.00 then pay the rest of the payment amount using your munch money.

Special Event Dinners

During special dinner events such as Christmas dinner, Valentines day dinner and Thanksgiving dinner you are still able to use your meal points

All of your meals points and munch money goes into your BenU Card at the beginning of the semester.

You have a lot of options when choosing what your meal plan is!
